Making Mullein Tincture

Ingredients:

Mullein plants - be sure you have the right plant

Harvest leaves from the top of the mullein plant to use in the tincture.

Harvest enough clean mullein to fill your jars ¾ of the way full.

Directions:

Use scissors to cut the leaves into small strips

Place them in a clean glass jar (press them down well)

Fill the remainder of the jar with at least 80 proof vodka making sure the leaves are fully submerged.

Put a lid on the jar, label, and place it in a cool dark place for about one month (giving the jar a shake every now and then)

At the end of a month, when the tincture is ready, strain the plant matter from the vodka (using fine strainer and then a coffee filter)

Put the strained liquid into a clean dark glass jar or 2 oz  brown or blue glass eye dropper, label it, and store it in a cool dark place.

Place any remaining leaves on a clean towel (approximately two weeks)

Dry for use in the winter months. When dry, store in mason jars.

You can use desiccant in the jar if desired.
